Aging Skin
What Skin Aging Actually Is
Aging is not one thing. Some of it is time. Some of it is sun, stress, sugar, sleep, dehydration, inflammation, and years of small choices.
Two kinds of aging
Intrinsic aging is the part connected to time and biology. Extrinsic aging is the part accelerated by exposure, habits, stress, and how the skin is cared for.
Dora focuses on this distinction because it gives the client back some agency without pretending everything is controllable.
What shows up on the face
Aging may show as dullness, dehydration, uneven tone, sagging, texture, fine lines, or skin that does not recover as quickly as it used to.
Why prevention matters
Prevention is easier than correction. But if correction is needed, the work should still be calm and intelligent, not desperate.
Aging is time plus accumulation
The manuscript distinguishes intrinsic aging from extrinsic aging. Intrinsic aging is time and biology. Extrinsic aging is the accumulation of sun, pollution, harsh cleansing, foundation habits, smoking, sugar, stress, poor sleep, dehydration, and years without enough repair.
That distinction is hopeful because it is practical. Time cannot be stopped. Accumulated damage can often be reduced, and ongoing damage can be interrupted.
The goal is not to look like another age
Dora's aging chapters are not about pretending time did not pass. They are about helping the face return to the best version of its actual age. The skin can become smoother, calmer, more hydrated, more even, and more responsive when the daily damage stops and repair is supported.
The work is usually not one dramatic procedure. It is a year of direction: stop what is harming the skin, rebuild the barrier, support hydration and collagen behavior, correct texture and pigmentation carefully, and maintain before decline restarts.
