Too Much Skincare
Over-Exfoliation and Sensitive Skin
Some skin is not under-treated. It is overworked. Dora looks for the point where products stopped helping and started making the face defensive.
When active products become too active
Exfoliating acids, scrubs, retinoids, peels, drying acne products, and constant switching can all be useful in the right context. The problem is using them on skin that is already asking for protection.
Over-exfoliated skin often looks like it needs more help, which tempts the client to add more. Dora's job is to notice when the face is not asking for intensity; it is asking for recovery.
Signs the routine may be the trigger
If the skin stings after washing, burns with moisturizer, peels unevenly, flushes easily, or breaks out after every new product, the routine itself may be part of the pattern.
- burning with ordinary moisturizer
- shiny tightness
- new sensitivity
- breakouts after repeated product changes
The correction is not neglect
Calming the skin is not giving up. It is creating the conditions where later correction can work. Dora often separates recovery from active treatment so the client stops asking irritated skin to perform.
